SUMBA - THE MEGALITHIC TOMBS ISLAND.
Sumba
ist well known in the past centuries primarily as as asource of sandalwood,
horses, sculptured megalithic tombs, and its painstakingly made hand
woven Ikat textile and its tribal war games ritual. There are many
traditional villages elaborate megalithic tombs scattered throughout
West Sumba, and right in Waikabubak district you can admire the mystery
of the tombs Kadung Tana, Hatu Karagate and Bulu Puka Mila and Resi
Moni graves is the burial site of a former King of Anakalang one of
the largest megaliths on the Island. The Pasola is West Sumba`s most
exiting ritual scores of colourfully arrayed horseman on bareback,battling
with lances. The ceremony is begin several days after the full moon
and during the war ritual riders charge one another flinging spears.
The island is also famous for surfing at the white sandy beach along
the west coast and still virgin and isolated.
Be prepared your self to explore the Island and feel like the Robinson
Cruso at the Tomb`s Island.
