Island is home of the world`s largest reptile – called Komodo
Dragon – local people named it “ ORA “ ( varanus
komodoenses) and is one of the world`s oldest species, a close
relatives of the Dinosaurs who roamed the earth 100 million years
ago. Komodo Giant Lizzard – growing up to 2,5 to 3,5 meter length
with up to 75 – 150 kg weigh, lay up to 30 eggs at a time and
can run at speeds of 25 km per hours. The highlight of a Komodo
visit is to see the Dragons in its natural habitat, though you
may spot one by walking around the island accompanied by the Park
rangers . Komodo is become to be a National Park ,where instead
of Komodo Giant Lizard, you may observe a number of rare birds
species such as mound building megapode bird,the sulphur crested
cockatoo, the noisy friar bird, deer,wild pig,wild buffalo,macaque
monkeys, and several species of snakes. Instead of Komodo Island
the similar type of Lizzard can be found in other island such
as Rinca,Padar and Flores.
