West Sumatra

PADANG is West Sumatra capital city and Port Teluk Bayur is one of gateways to the  homeland of Minangkabau which strategically located in west coast of Sumatra and also well known as the Gypsies of Indonesia. The Minangkabau are a matriarchal and matrilineal society where the ancestral heritage is passed on down the female line rather the male.

After departing the Teluk Bayur port,proceed to visit Kampung Cina ( China Town) where you can wander streets lined with turn of the century houses,Chinese herbalist and coffee shop, thence enjoy the magnificent view of the city  from Bukit Monyet ,and Gunung Padang than proceed to the traditional horned roof houses of Adityawarman Museum,then visit the Taman Budaya Art Institute to see the colourful Minang traditional Dance and martial arts and trip end passing to the legendary bridge of Siti Nurbaya and Padang Beach.

BUKITTINGGI - The Canyon in the City.
A pleasant 2 hours drive passing through the lush rice paddies on the gorgeous Anai Valley and take a photo stop at the breathtaking view of Anai Waterfall, on to the highland town of Bukittinggi which surrounding  by the spectacular viewe of three active volcano, thence visit the traditional hand weaving and silver smith Pandai Sikek Village. The trip is continuo to visit the Bukittinggi landmark Jam Gadang - the old clock tower, Rumah Gadang Museum- traditional extended family house built in the 17th century,Batang Pulupuah village - to see the giant flower Rafflesia arnoldi which is only blooming once a year in November.


PAGARUYUNG PALACE  &  LAKE MANINJAU THE ANCIENT CRATER.
Visit Batusangkar- a scenic town surrouded by a majestic rice terrace, Pagaruyung - the royal palace which was rebuilt on the ruin of the bygone Pagaruyung Empire,Lima Kaum to see the stabbed and inscribed stone of the late King of Pagaruyung,
thence visit Singkarak Lake and the ancient crater Lake Maninjau,Bukit Kapasan village and Kota Gadang.
